Bournemouth have rejected a £64m bid from Chelsea for midfielder Alex Scott, according to BBC Sport.
The club have told Chelsea that further approaches would not be welcome and have maintained that they intend to keep the 22-year-old, who has two years remaining on his current contract.
The situation is complicated by Scott’s refusal to sign a new deal that has reportedly been available for at least two months. Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City also showed interest earlier in the window, while BBC Sport reported in June that Bournemouth had turned down an approach from Arsenal.
Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for £25m. Bournemouth have said publicly, to the player and to interested clubs, that he will remain on the south coast even if he stays on his existing terms.
The club are said to be under no pressure to sell after qualifying for the Europa League and raising substantial funds through the sales last summer of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi and Dango Outtara.
Bournemouth are taking a similar position over forward Junior Kroupi, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham. Brazil international Rayan is also not expected to leave and has not indicated that he wants a move.
Scott and Kroupi are with the squad at new manager Marco Rose’s pre-season training camp in Austria. Rayan is due to return later after playing for Brazil at the World Cup.
Scott was named in his first England squad last November and later included in Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, but he has not yet made a senior international appearance.
The midfielder began his career at Guernsey FC before joining Bristol City in 2020. He made 91 appearances for the Championship club and was named the division’s young player of the season in 2022-23. Since moving to Bournemouth, he has made 89 appearances and scored six goals.
