A PlayStation Network outage that left some gamers unable to access digital games for several hours has been resolved, according to BBC News.
Down Detector, which monitors service disruption reports, recorded tens of thousands of problem reports from users around the world on Friday.
The disruption affected some players’ ability to start games, use apps or access network features on PlayStation consoles. By Friday evening, Sony’s status page showed that all affected services were operating again.
The BBC reported that it had approached PlayStation for comment.
Some users linked the outage to concerns about Sony’s plan to stop releasing new PlayStation games on discs from January 2028. Sony said in a blog post earlier this month that new games would still be available to buy in shops, but would be supplied with a digital code.
The reports of PlayStation problems began around the same time as an alert from Amazon Web Services about issues affecting some servers. That AWS issue was later resolved. The supplied material does not state that the two incidents were connected.
